The Sweet History of Chimney Cake

The history of Chimney Cake, known in Hungarian as Kürtőskalács, is a bit of a mystery. It is believed to have originated in Transylvania, a region in Romania often linked to legends of vampires and folklore.

Over time, Kürtőskalács became a beloved Hungarian pastry, made from sweet dough wrapped around a wooden spit, coated in sugar and cinnamon, and baked over an open flame until golden brown.
